Basic Needs...

Children who have been separated from loved ones, whether it be parents or family, are often left to take care of themselves and/or siblings.  These children are often very young and have the daunting responsibility of finding ways to meet the needs of others.  Often these children have experienced the effects of war, disease, death of parents and horrific war atrocities.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matt. 19:14

“The Spirit of Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed...

Luke 4:18

  • Clothing...

Shoes and clothing are certainly essential for growing children.  Many orphaned children without adequate clothing and/or shoes are subject to the elements of weather and bacteria, often negatively affecting their health.

  • Safe Play...

Well-rounded children are afforded the opportunity to be creative in play as well.  These children are developing friend relationships and learning the balance of life as it should be for a child.

  • Nutrition...

Fortified rice has become a staple for the orphaned children of the world.  Rice can be extruded and shaped into partially precooked grain-like structures resembling grains,  which can then be blended with natural polished rice.  Rice kernels can be fortified with several micronutrients, such as iron, folic acid and other B-complex vitamins, vitamin A and zinc.

  • Clean water...

Clean water is essential, yet often unavailable In many impoverished nations.  As a result,  it leaves many with no choice but to rely daily on unsanitary water in order to stay alive. Although the unsanitary water keeps dehydration from being a problem, it causes diarrheacholeradysenterytyphoid, and many other bacterial diseases.

  • Individual Spiritual life...

It is critical that these children come to know the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Jesus, that they have a heavenly Father that is watching over them and providing for them, and that they are never alone.

  • Education...

Education is a high priority for these children, as they are likely the future leaders of their individual nation.  Each of them have gifts, talents and abilities born within them that are being groomed in the educational system for the purpose and plan God designed with them in mind.

  • Corporate Worship...

The freedom to worship with a local "family of God" is critical for the development of these children.  Scripture's encouragement to "not forsake the assembling of the saints" is for the strengthening of the Body of Christ through the support of one another, the preaching of the Word, and experiencing God's presence in corporate worship--all of which build and support the growth of each member.

  • Medical...

Access to medical attention is critical to ensure the health needs of the children.  Disease is often a major issue in impoverished nations, and children are likely the most affected and vulnerable to its effects.
